We've been running a survey every year for several years now. Below are the results for what endurance athletes think are the best GPS watches of 2024. If you find this information useful, "Like" and "Follow" our Facebook Page.

QUESTION 1: Which BRANDÂ of GPS watch do you CURRENTLY, MAINLYÂ use for your training and racing?
This was more lop-sided than ever. For reference, our survey went out to Trail Runners, Obstacle Couse Racers, and Hybrid Athletes...Garmin is dominating in endurance sports.
QUESTION 2: What were the 3 Most Important Factors you considered when purchasing your current GPS watch? Please select ONLY your Top 3 reasons.
The top three choices aren't surprising. Next year we'll add "Features" to this list (as suggested by one person polled). Price is a factor, but I think you'll be surprised by how much people are willing to pay for a GPS watch on one of the charts below. If you are choosing a watch based on these Top 3, you'll get a good watch overall.

QUESTION 3: What MODELÂ (this is not asking for the brand again, JUST THE MODEL) of GPS watch do you currently race/train with PRIMARILY? (Example: Fenix 7)
Here are you top 9 watch models. Every other model received 2 or less votes.
Garmin Fenix Series - 17 votes
Garmin Forerunner Series - 16 votes
Garmin Vivoactive Series - 7 votes
Garmin Instinct Series - 7 votes
Garmin Apex Series - 6 votes
Suunto 9 Series - 4 votes
Garmin Venu Series - 4 votes
Suunto Spartan Ultra Series - 3 votes
QUESTION 4: If you HAD TO choose a different GPS watch BRAND to use other than the one you currently use, which would you select?
Coros is a strong back-up option for many, and ironically, a lot of people NOT using a Garmin WOULD use a Garmin if they didn't have their normal watch. One thing I find silly is that 4 people said they wouldn't use another watch if they couldn't use their main one...why? All of these watches will fairly accurately track training data. If you use a GPS watch to track training data, any of these will work. Yes, some are better than others, but if you actually want data and use data to help your training, then you'd use any watch if need be...just saying.
QUESTION 5: How much money are you willing to spend on a GPS Watch? (Price in USA Dollars)
74 athletes want to pay $500 or less for a GPS watch. 41 athletes are willing to pay more than $500 for a GPS watch. In my personal experience, you can get a really good quality GPS watch with a TON of features for $300 or less, but it all depends on what you are looking for. Know what you want from a watch, know what price you are willing to pay, and then go look.
